C-TRAN is planning a new segment of The Vine, the agency’s bus rapid transit system, serving Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard as well as Northeast 162nd Avenue. Bus rapid transit, or BRT, uses various features to move passengers more efficiently and reliably. Those features include larger buses, transit signal priority, seamless fare payments, level boarding platforms and more.
This proposed line is an extension of the original corridor served by The Vine on Fourth Plain. That corridor, which began service in 2017, stretches along Fourth Plain between downtown Vancouver and the Vancouver Mall Transit Center. Since then, C-TRAN has planted two additional segments for The Vine: Mill Plain, which opened in 2023, and Highway 99, currently in planning.
